Landscape design consultation
From idea to buildable plan
A landscape design consultation is a working session on your property: a designer walks the yard with you, learns how you want to use it, and turns that rough idea into a clear plan with a real price.
Most projects start abstract. You kind of know what you want, but not how it fits your lot, your budget, or Arkansas weather. Vista has spent 40 years taking that vision and turning it into reality, and the same team that draws the plan builds it.

What happens during a landscape design consultation?
We walk the property together. You point at what you love and what you hate, and we study what the yard is actually doing: where it drains, where the sun lands, where the slopes fight you. Then we talk budget honestly, because a plan you cannot afford is just a pretty drawing. From there Vista lays out the whole property, from bed lines to hardscape, and prices it. It is the front door to our landscape design services in Springdale, and it is where every great yard we have built started.
Why plan the landscape before building anything?
Because building without a plan is how yards end up as a collection of one-off projects that never quite fit together. A plan settles the layout, the materials, and the order of work before money gets spent, so the patio does not have to move when the drainage goes in. Professional groups like the Association of Professional Landscape Designers exist because this planning step is where projects succeed or fail. You approve the look and the price up front, and the build follows the drawing.

Call (479) 799-9572Does the consultation cover patios and hardscape too?
Yes. The hard surfaces are the bones of the plan, so we lay them out first: where the patio sits, how the walkway connects the spaces, whether a wall needs to hold a slope. Getting those lines right shapes everything else in the yard, from the beds to the lawn. When a project leans heavily on stone and pavers, our hardscape design goes deeper on materials, drainage, and how the built pieces work as one layout. Either way, the consultation is where it all gets decided on paper first.
How detailed does a residential landscape plan need to be?
Detailed enough that the crew can build it without guessing, and no more. A typical Vista plan covers the layout, the grading and drainage moves, the plant palette matched to your sun and soil, and the materials for every built piece. What you will not get is a stack of drawings you paid for and cannot use. We design what we intend to build, price it as one number, and phase it if your budget needs the work spread out. The plan is a tool, and it earns its keep when the yard matches it.
FAQs
Frequently asked landscaping questions
Is the landscape design consultation free?
The estimate is always free. If your project calls for detailed design work beyond that, we explain exactly what is involved and what it costs before you commit to anything.
How should I prepare for the consultation?
Just gather your ideas. Photos you like, problems that bug you, and an honest budget range help the most. We handle the measuring and the site reading.
How long until I see a plan?
It depends on the size of the property and the level of detail needed. We give you a clear timeline at the consultation, so you always know what happens next.
Do you design yards you do not build?
Our focus is design and build together. Designing and building with one team is how we keep the finished yard true to the plan you approved.
Do I get a plan I can keep?
You get a clear, buildable plan for your property and a written price for the work. We walk you through every part of it before you decide anything.
Can you work with a budget?
Yes, and we prefer to. Tell us the number early and we design to it, or phase the plan so the full vision gets built over time without rework.
