Landscape drainage solutions
Move the water, keep the yard
Landscape drainage solutions capture the rain that pools in your yard or pushes against your foundation and move it safely away, using grading, drains, and dry creek beds.
Northwest Arkansas clay holds water, and Vista has been fixing that for 40 years. We find where the water comes from, design the fix, and build it so it reads as part of the landscape. A drainage fix should be pretty, not a muddy ditch.

Why does my yard hold water after every rain?
Usually it is the grade, the soil, or both. Our clay soil drains slowly, and if the lot was graded flat or toward the house, rain has nowhere to go but down into the ground right where you do not want it. Vista reads how water moves across your property, then regrades low spots, adds drains where they are needed, and gives the water a clear path out. Drainage is one of the core landscaper services in Springdale we handle, and fixing it protects everything else you plant or build in the yard.
What is a dry creek bed and does it actually work?
A dry creek bed is a shallow, rock-lined channel that carries runoff the way a natural stream would, and yes, built right it works extremely well. It moves roof and surface water away fast during a storm, then sits as an attractive rock feature the rest of the year. The EPA's Soak Up the Rain program recommends directing runoff away from foundations, and a dry creek does exactly that without burying pipe across your whole yard. We shape it, line it, and plant the edges so it looks intentional.

Call (479) 799-9572Can drainage problems damage my foundation?
Yes, and that is the expensive way to find out. Water that pools against the house keeps constant pressure on the foundation and slab, and over the years that means cracks, settling, and wet crawl spaces. The fix is moving water away before it collects: downspout extensions, grading that slopes away from the walls, and rock beds that shed water instead of holding it. A complete yard plan handles this from the start, which is why our residential landscaping builds drainage into every design instead of treating it as an afterthought.
Can a drainage fix actually look good?
It has to. A trench with a pipe in it solves the water and ruins the yard, and that is not how we work. Dry creeks get natural stone and planted banks. Drain lines get buried and finished with sod. Rock beds around the house shed water and frame the foundation planting at the same time. When we are done, a visitor should see a designed landscape, not a repair. That is the standard for every drainage job we build, and it is why we design the fix and the finished look together.
FAQs
Frequently asked landscaping questions
How much does yard drainage cost in Springdale?
It depends on how far the water needs to move and what is in the way. Every estimate is free. We walk the yard, find the source, and give you a written price before work starts.
How long does a drainage project take?
Most residential drainage fixes take a few days, weather depending. Bigger regrading jobs can take longer. We give you a clear timeline after we see the site.
Will you tear up my whole yard?
No. We disturb only what the fix requires, and we finish every trench and grade with sod, rock, or planting so the yard looks better than before we started.
Do French drains work in clay soil?
They work when they are sized and sloped right for clay, which drains slowly. Often we pair a drain with surface grading or a dry creek so heavy storms have two ways out.
Can you fix erosion on a slope?
Yes. We slow the water down, give it a defined path, and anchor the slope with rock, planting, or a wall. The washouts stop because the cause is gone.
My neighbor drains into my yard. Can you help?
Usually, yes. We can intercept that water at the property line with a swale, drain, or dry creek and route it out before it crosses your lawn.
